Si has had a lifelong interest in art, watching his dad paint his whole life, but had managed to avoid actually trying it between his last art class in year 9 of school and sitting in his bedsit 25 years later with a baby and a divorce under his belt. A few months later, a date took him to The National Portrait Gallery, where he saw a number of artworks that inspired him in a way he hadn't expected. Previously it had never occurred to him to consider portraiture, thinking it would be too difficult, but that flash of inspiration sparked a fire in him that pushed him to give it a try.

Drawing on his background in comedy, that's where he started, but has since enjoyed working on musicians, animals and any subject that sparks an interest.
